Our History
Salem Presbyterian Church at Pine Grove was established in 1784, making it one of the oldest continuously worshipping congregations in Kentucky — over 240 years of faithful gathering to worship.
The congregation began in a log building located off Basin Springs Road. As the community grew, a brick building was constructed nearby. In 1870, the congregation built the sanctuary that still stands today at 312 Combs Ferry Road in Winchester, Kentucky.
Through generations of families, seasons of growth and change, and more than two centuries of Sunday mornings, Salem has remained a place of worship, fellowship, and belonging for the people of this community.
What We Believe
Salem Presbyterian is a congregation in the Reformed tradition, holding to the historic confessions of the Presbyterian faith. We believe in the authority of Scripture, the grace of God in salvation, and the call to love God and neighbor.
Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, the rule for faith and life.
Grace
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — a gift freely given, not earned.
Worship
We gather each Sunday to worship God through prayer, the reading and preaching of Scripture, and the sacraments.
Community
We are called to love one another and our neighbors — to be a congregation marked by warmth, hospitality, and genuine care.

Director of Music
Doris Stanley leads the music ministry at Salem Presbyterian, bringing inspiration, warmth and reverence to Sunday worship through hymns and sacred music.
